Nine Waived, Two to IR

The 49ers waived four-year veteran LB Roderick Green, second-year WR Marcus Maxwell, first-year players K MacKenzie Hoambrecker, G Nick Steitz, and LB John Syptak and rookies P Ken Parrish, CB Sammy Joseph, FB Steve Dildine, and WR Dominque Zeigler.

The 49ers placed DE Melvin Oliver and WR C.J. Brewer on injured reserve. Oliver suffered an ACL injury during the OTAs in June, while Brewer suffered an ACL injury earlier in the week.

  1. I KNEW MAXWELL AND GUARD NICK STEITZ WERE GOING TO GET THE AX BUT NOT GREEN.

  2. Maxwell is a winner. Hopefully he will get signed by someone.

  3. probley dallas or the eagles

  4. yeah, that would make sense…

  5. dang Green got cut…its prolly cuz hes not a great LB though…hes best at DE and thats where he had all of his sacks last year…

  6. Still, Nolan said he did not have a definite pecking order at receiver. He said he thought Taylor Jacobs was his No. 3, but he wasn’t sure. While Jacobs has stood out in practices, he has yet to make an impact in exhibition games, catching only two passes for 22 yards.

Nolan noted Jacobs hasn’t had a lot of chances, either. Quarterback Alex Smith attempted only eight passes against Chicago, and the first-team offense went three-and-out four times. Nolan said Ashley Lelie “did a good job” for the second week in a row.

Lelie, who has played mostly with the second-team offense, has 10 catches for 131 yards and a touchdown in three exhibition games.

  7. Goodbye Gilmore.

  8. gilmore aint going no where…. jackson, battle, lelie, hill an gilmore 2 return

  9. gilmore aint going no where…. jackson, battle, lelie, hill an gilmore 2 return.

  10. whos going to return punts then? it sure as hell aint going to be gilmore.

  11. i wish someone would step up and return kicks becuz i dont want to waste a roster spot on brandon williams

  12. maurice hicks and M-Rob can return punts and kicks and if not them we still have Arkee Whitlock.

  13. 3rd receiver - Gilmore, Jacobs or Lelie?
Bryan Gilmore (46 catches in seven seasons) and Taylor Jacobs (34 catches in four seasons) are in the running with Ashley Lelie (196 catches in five seasons, including 54 for Denver in ‘04).

Lelie.3rd………….an Gilmore an Hicks n return game

  14. just cuz gilmore’s a receiver dont mean hes autmatically entitled to returning kicks. He doesnt return kicks and never will.

  15. Ninaz…same goes 4 your boy Rob an Whitlock….Whitlock..lol b n the next cutz

  16. Gilmore looks stronger back there…..willaimz 1 touch an he goes down…or fallz n2 a blocker an goes down..

  17. williams is too much about bling. I hate that shit. One thing I will say is that he’s got decent hands, though. Looks like we’re stuck with him. I dont want someone else to come in and start fumbling becuz of lack of experience, which would be way worse than the bling factor.
