The Difference Larry Allen Makes
Since it’s a slow news day here in Ninerland, I decided I’d take the time to go back and look at how bad Kwame Harris is. When I was going through the stats I realized not only how bad Kwame is but how much of a difference Larry Allen made on this team in ’06.
I’m not going to waste anyone’s time breaking down how bad Kwame is (since he really only has a handful of supporters) instead I’ll throw out the stats for the run game with and without Larry Allen.
In 2005 minus Allen, the Gore-Barlow tandem ran the ball 75 times for 186 yards (3.0 ypc) to the left side, at the same time they rushed for 406 yards to the right on roughly the same carries (88). Now fast forward to 2006, Gore ran the ball 78 times for 448 yards (5.7 ypc) to the same side. That is 262 yards more on only three additional carries. Granted in 2005 the team had Kevan ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips’ Barlow dancing his way to the line, but 2.7 yards more per carry is a big difference. Now just imagine Gore’s numbers if Larry Allen didn’t miss time due to injury.
