Bryant Young, Back for One More Year

bryant-young.pngThe 49ers and veteran Bryant Young have agreed on a one year deal. After voiding the final years of his contract because of playing time incentives, Young worked out a contract agreement that it is believed to be for one-year. Though terms of the contract were unavailable, Young is probably going to make around the $4.25 million he was scheduled to make had the contract not voided.

The 49ers didn’t want to lose Young to free agency, due to his leadership and work ethic. Because the 49ers would like to bring in as many as seven new starters on defense, Young is the leader Nolan wants to show them the right way to do things as a 49er.

This will certainly mean Bryant Young will start and finish his career as a 49er.

  1. Forever a Niner! Will go down in history as a 49er great, thank you Nolan for showing loyalty in era of cut throat money hungry organizations. Right for the team… Right for the organization… Right for the fans.

  2. now he can retire as a niner.still the best defensive lineman on the team.

  3. im happy bryant young is coming back to retire a forty niner.did anyone else hear that omobi okoye injuried his hamstring during the combine.i dont know how bad it is though.

  4. Seven new starters huh?

  5. Considering past greats such as Montana, Lott, Rice, Craig, and others didn’t finish their careers in a Niner uniform, this is a HUGE accomplishment for an All Time 49er great. Congrats B.Y., U will forever bleed Red and Gold!!!

  6. Who cares about Okoye…we don’t want him…he is a 4-3 linman and we already have someone like him named something Adams…Branch or Landry. Congrats to BY…he deserved this big time. It will be good to see him wearing 97 one more time. I was looking at all of the mock drafts and now it seemed like our debate or Branch or Landry has now turned into Carriker or Willis. I say this because everyone is saying both Branch and Landry will be gone before we are on the clock.

  7. bryant young is the epitomy of class. thanks for being loyal b.y. the niners are blessed to have had young for this long. character, ability, performance, mentor, leader. young has been a huge part of this organization and i am glad he will be back for atleast another year. we brought him in with a lombardi trophy, lets send him out with one!!! go niners!!!

  8. Good for you, Nolan. This is the way to do things with class. The seven new starters thing surprised me, too. I would think that, with Young riding off into the sunset, that we will be spending our first round pick on a D lineman. Personally, I am thinking that Branch may be worth moving up for. I’ve heard Washington doesn’t have any draft picks from rounds 2-4. Maybe they would be willing to trade down to get some more picks, eh?

  9. AWSOME!!!

  10. whos bryant young?

  11. whos bryant young?

  12. I wish there’s a way they can win another superbowl before he retires but they have to get to the playoffs first which there’s no doubt in my mind the will this season!

  13. BY is the last string we have attached since the 94 superbowl….wouldnt it be special if we made it back next year on his last chance for a run an give him two rings one for his first year an one for his last….

  14. You hit it right on the head true niners fan that’s exactly what I’m talking about

  15. Nothing but respect for that man….

  16. we should retire the jersey 97.just out of respect.

  17. Respect, Respect, Respect, He’s loyal to our organization in the days of free agency which is rare. We need more players like Bryant palying for us in the future. He’s loyal loves and respect our orginization. He’s the last of the oldschool players the old dynasty, but he’ll mold the future dynasty.

  18. He’s been a niner for life and thats loyalty today! we had palyers stay there hole career here and some unloyal people did not. you win a fan for life in the time of free agency with loyalty to your team and your fans. People like T.O. burned alot of fans Eagle fans, S.F. fans for life when he went to the dallas hicks. It tarnishes a palyers image in history and pisses alot of fans off. down with free agency I say, i’ts killin the league! as a fan its saddens me to seeing my teams players going to teams I Hate. It sucks, and I’m tired of it. If your a die hard fan it pisses you off. Seeing T.O. in Bue and silver is B.S. He sold out! for
    Money.
