  2. wow thats all i can say is wow this season is dedicated to the god bill walsh and i think as remeberance we should wear throw back all year long this is a very sad day for the san francisco 49ers

  3. When the new stadium is built, a statue of Bill should be in front of it. He made the great dynasty of the niners. It is a must. I only wished Bill would have stayed longer. There’s no doubt we would have more than just 5 trophies.

  4. Man, we will miss you Bill. Thanks for the Superbowls, the smart drafting, everything. The greatest football coach of all time. We really should wear throwbacks this year. And play extra hard for Mr. Walsh.

    I back that up.
This is some sad news, he is the man that put the 49ers on the map. He will not be forgotten, and I think this season should be dedicated to him.

  6. I am tremendously saddened. During my childhood, I idolized my now deceased father. I associate figures from those times with my father – Walsh was one such; Reagan was another. The Walsh legacy on my life will be fond memories of a father and son appreciating true artistry on a football field.

  7. Sad day to be a football fan, specially 9ers fan. May u rest in peace Bill. Thanks for all the great memories

  8. Bill Walsh, thanks for the precise account to detail, successful attitude, & work ethic. I’ll never forget those years. Rest easy, let the 2007 niners carry on your legacy!

  9. Thanks for the memories Coach Walsh, RIP and we will miss you!

  10. Dear Mr. Walsh – thank you for the victories-what an incredible ride-I can’t even describe the volumous emotional good times and feelings of supremacy and pride you and your team(s) have given me over the years-grew up in a small town outside south bend, IN and was a huge Joe Montana fan following his Notre Dame team through his career culminating with the big upset come from behind victory over Texas in the cotton bowl to knock them out-needless to say when Mr. Walsh had the wisdom to draft Joe I joined the team in 1979 and have been a loyal fan ever since-thanks for backing me up Mr. Walsh all those times I opened my mouth and bragged about how we were gonna beat they’re team and win it all. I bought your 1st book for my dad on his birthday when it came out and he loved it. Thanks again Sir- And if this years team needs a “montra” how bout we all chant WIN FOR WALSH!!

  11. R.I.P. BILL WALSH. LETS DEDICATE THE SEASON TO OUR GURU IN STYLE AND HOPE THE BOYS PLAY EXTRA HARD IN GENUINE 49ERS TRADITION. I HOPE OUR TEAM PLAY THEIR HEARTS OUT THIS SEASON AND IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE A SUPER BOWL DEDICATED TO MR. BILL WALSH THIS SEASON. IN GREAT MEMORY OF OUR DYNASTY’S FOUNDING FATHER…MAY YOU REST IN PEACE BILL WALSH. SAD DAY IN NINERS WORLD, BUT LETS JUST BE THANKFUL FOR THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES. GO NINERS!

  12. Wow. A vastly improved team. A season to dedicate to Bill Walsh, the reason the Niners are the “Niners”!! This could be an amazing season. In a perfect world, we will wear throwback uniforms every game in honor, the same uniforms from the Walsh era. Go NINERS!

  13. Walsh was an amazing coach and he said he walked away from the 49ers way to early.I was pissed off when he retired! But i knew we had a good team that he put together. But we also had Dennis Greene,Mike Holmgren and Ray Rhodes and george seitford(how ever his name was spelled)that offensiveline coach that died of cancer too.But Bill Walsh and his wisdom on finding the right coaches and players was amazing.I wish i could have seen how powerfull we could of been in 1994/1995 if bill walsh was here with our offensive cordinator at the time in Mike Shanahan. That would have been one hell of an offense. He was a “CHAMPION” and a “Savior” for the San Fransisco 49ers and to me he will always be remembered as the best coach ever for this team.

  14. The best coach of all time. We’ll miss you Bill.

  20. Definitely a sad day in Niner Land and the NFL!! Probably the BEST coach ever in the NFL!! A GREAT man on and off the field. You could tell by how the former players were talking about him today at the Stanford press conference how much they liked and admired him!! He will be missed!!

  21. I agree with the statue as well. Thanks for the memories Coach. I just wished he could’ve seen this upcoming season. I hope all the players are even more motivated for Coach. Rest in Peace. You will be missed tremendously.

  22. RIP Mr. Bill Walsh. The 49ers wouldn’t be where they are today if you weren’t here. No way would we have 5 superbowls. No way we would have Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, and all the great niner players there was. I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the times that our niners made us happy. Thank you.

  27. Bill, we love you and you will always represent the 49ers Forever! We will win in honor of you! When we take pads will think of you!

  28. I hope the team will wear something on their helmets to remember Bill this year. Prehaps the number #89 to commemorate that last Superbowl win by the Genius.

  29. The 9ers should do all of the following things in memory of Bill Walsh:

    1. Name the new stadium after him
    2. Put something on their helmet such as a “BW” sticker to commemortate him
